ABOUT US

WE BELIEVE THERE IS A BETTER WAY FOR PEOPLE & PLANET

But we  know we cannot change the industry alone.

We are growing the upcycled beauty movement by informing, inspiring and enabling the use of upcycled materials in personal care. We are uplifting and shouting about others also working in this circular space, even our competitors, as we believe a global move towards circularity is essential for the future.

The linear economy is driven by growth and profits – but circular businesses can quantify success in many ways. Through the health, happiness and productivity of employees, through contributions towards local communities and through positive environmental impacts to name just a few.

We are a small and energetic team driven by a mission much larger than ourselves. Our vision is reflected throughout our company, the collaborative way in which we work and the circular community we are building. We look after our people and planet first and apply these values in everything we do.

CLOSING THE GAP

According to the Circularity Gap Report, the global economy is only 6.9% circular. And this is getting worse driven by rising material extraction and use.

The global linear economy relies increasingly on materials from primary sources. Over the last six years the global economy extracted and used more than in the entire 20th century. People’s living standards are being improved, but simultaneously we are shattering the safe environmental limits of our planet.

As a fast consumable industry, beauty and personal care can take inspiration to invest in the large-scale deployment of sustainable production, while curbing primary material demands.

We want to lead by example to show the personal care industry it can thrive from waste products alone to produce raw materials (as well as packaging). We believe there is no need for the industry to use primary resources or compete with the food chain. According to Project Drawdown, the world’s leading resource for climate solutions, reducing food waste is a key factor to mitigate the climate crisis. So, what can be done to help reduce primary material consumption, reduce waste and promote innovation within personal care? Explore our website or join the Upcycled Beauty Community to discover the opportunities of upcycling and zero waste beauty.
